Gold Coast Coronavirus Updates

Keep up to date with closures, cancellations and altered trading hours on the Gold Coast

Since the announcement of the COVID-19 pandemic, Gold Coast businesses have been taking actions to help slow the spread of the virus. You can find out below how local businesses are responding to the outbreak by temporarily closing, adjusting their business hours, or offering safe takeaway options.

Search for specific businesses by pressing Ctrl+F (for Windows) or Command+F (for Mac) on your keyboard. Then simply type the name of the business you want to find.

We will be updating this list as often as possible with the latest announcements.


Latest update 19/05/2020

From 11.59pm, Friday May 15, the following will be allowed:

  • Gatherings of a maximum of 10 people together in a public space.
  • Dining in at restaurants, pubs, clubs, RSLs and cafes for a maximum of 10 patrons at one time as part of a gradual re-opening (no bars or gaming).
  • Recreational travel of a radius of up to 150km from your home for day trips.
  • Some beauty therapies and nail salons for up to 10 people at one time.
  • Reopening of libraries. playground equipment, skate parks and outdoor gyms (a maximum of 10 at one time).
  • Wedding guests increased to 10 people and funeral attendance increased to 20 (30 outdoors).
  • Open homes and auctions with a maximum of 10 people at one time.
  • Re-opening public pools and lagoons (eg South Bank, Cairns, Airlie Beach) with a maximum of 10 people at a time or greater numbers with an approved plan.

Beachside Pavilion – OPEN

Open from 7am till 3pm for breakfast & lunch, takeaway only.

Phone your coffee order in 07 5539 0377, pull up out the front, come in and pick up or they will happily come to your car.

Fishermans Wharf Tavern – TEMPORARILY CLOSED

Fishermans Wharf’s Tavern is now temporarily closed.

Their Bottle Shop at Mariners Cove Main Beach, however, is still open daily from 10am until 7pm.

Jamie Oliver’s Pizzeria – OPEN

Jamie Oliver’s Pizzeria has now reopened for takeaways and deliveries! Visit them in Broadbeach at Pacific Fair Shopping Centre or order online via Uber Eats and Deliveroo.

Lord of the Fries – OPEN

Lord of the Fries is open for takeaways in Surfers Paradise. Offering vegan fast food and the best fries on the coast.

Mario’s Italian Restaurant – OPEN

Mermaid Beach SLSC – TEMPORARILY RESTRICTED

Mermaid Beach SLSC is open for takeaway dinner meals every night for only $15. Call 5575 3211 to place an order. Pick up from 4.30pm-7pm.

Working from home calls for home delivery and….. Pancakes in Paradise has you covered with all your favourites.

Their dedicated teams will continue to care for the animals at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary throughout the closure. Currumbin Wildlife Hospital Foundation will remain open to treat wildlife patients.

Due to recent government restrictions, Gold Coast Helitours services have been temporarily restricted to aerial work and charters such as aerial photography & surveys, charter work including transportation to and from places, sky crane operations, airport transfers, etc.

Putt Putt Mermaid Beach is BACK and has now reopened with restrictions in place! Swing by 9am – 5pm Sun – Thur and 9am – 10pm Fri and Saturday. No booking necessary, just turn up!
The staff are practising safe hygiene with putters, balls and various course locations regularly sanitised.

The Mudgeeraba Show has been postponed until the 2nd, 3rd and 4th of October 2020.

VIVA Surfers Paradise – CANCELLED

VIVA Surfers Paradise has been cancelled until further notice.

Gold Coast SUNS AFL Games – LIVESTREAM

Players have now returned to non-contact training in small groups. On June 11th, AFL games will resume. The AFL will announce the updated fixture soon.
