Melanoma March at The Strand

National fundraiser, Melanoma March, will again hit the streets of the Gold Coast starting from The Strand at Coolangatta on Sunday March 15 at 7.00am as part of the annual campaign raise funds and awareness for a cure for melanoma.

Participants are encouraged to walk, march, stroll or even run the 4km course from The Strand to Point Danger and back. After the walk, enjoy coffee and breakfast at The Strand.

Register online or on the day from 6.30am and help to support vital research into a cure for Melanoma – one of the deadliest diseases affecting our local community on the Southern Gold Coast and Tweed.

Gold Coast and Tweed locals will unite to to march for a cure for melanoma as the sixth annual Melanoma March returns to Coolangatta in 2020.

Starting from The Strand at Coolangatta on Sunday 15 March, this annual event will be raising funds and awareness for a cure for melanoma. One Australian dies from melanoma every five hours and on average, 14,000 Australians are diagnosed with melanoma every year.
It’s also the most common cancer affecting 15 to 39 year old Australians and kills more 20 to 39 year olds than any other single cancer.

The Coolangatta march has been one of the highest regional fundraisers in the country. Over the past five years, our Coolangatta event has raised over $100,000 for melanoma research with Melanoma Institute Australia (MIA) – which is directly helping to improve survival rates in our region as a result of ongoing research projects.

Sadly, the Southern Gold Coast/Tweed region has one of the highest rates of melanoma diagnosis in the country. Early detection is vital, and this annual event is a reminder to our local community to take this cancer seriously.

Melanoma March Coolangatta will commence at The Strand on Marine Parade at 7:00am (QLD time) with registration from 6:30am (QLD time) and take a picturesque 4km loop along the foreshore of Coolangatta Beach, turning at Point Danger. A number of our cafes will be opening early for you to enjoy a pre- or post-walk coffee and breakfast at The Strand.
